3.0 Structured "On-The-Job" Programs

DESCRIPTION:

On average new employees, to an area, spend over 150 hours learning “on-the-job”. The majority of these learning activities are spent in an informal setting. The cost associated with the informal approach to OJT can be considerable.

Blackfox can assist your company in establishment of a planned structured approach to OJT, resulting in increased workforce competence, greater motivation and an overall improvement in quality. Each employee gains self-esteem while the organization benefits through greater productivity and profitability.

With 80% or more of the critical work skills being taught “on-the-job”, why use a “pie-in-the-sky” approach to training.

ELEMENTS OF A STRUCTURED "OJT" SYSTEM:

  • Processes are written and part of the employee operating procedures
  • OJT learning materials are developed
  • Supervisors may include performance list in performance or new hire reviews
  • Mentors are familiar with job and OJT skills

OBJECTIVE:
Upon completion:

  • Learners know what is expected of them on the job
  • Quality and quantity variables are clear and explicit
  • Skills are broken down into manageable lessons
  • Consistency for knowledge transfer is maintained
  • Records are maintained
  • “Return on Investment” is measurable
