3.0 Structured "On-The-Job"
Programs
DESCRIPTION:
On average new employees, to an area, spend over 150 hours learning
on-the-job. The majority of these learning activities
are spent in an informal setting. The cost associated with the informal
approach to OJT can be considerable.
Blackfox can assist your company in establishment
of a planned structured approach to OJT, resulting in increased
workforce competence, greater motivation and an overall improvement
in quality. Each employee gains self-esteem while the organization
benefits through greater productivity and profitability.
With 80% or more of the critical work skills being
taught on-the-job, why use a pie-in-the-sky
approach to training.
ELEMENTS OF A STRUCTURED "OJT" SYSTEM:
- Processes are written and part of the employee
operating procedures
- OJT learning materials are developed
- Supervisors may include performance list in performance
or new hire reviews
- Mentors are familiar with job and OJT skills
OBJECTIVE:
Upon completion:
- Learners know what is expected
of them on the job
- Quality and quantity variables are clear and explicit
- Skills are broken down into manageable lessons
- Consistency for knowledge transfer is maintained
- Records are maintained
- Return on Investment is measurable
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
There are several approaches to implementation of structured On-the-Job
systems. Call Blackfox and we will assist you in designing a development
plan that meets your organizational goals.

6.0 Specialized Operation Training
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
As companies grow, they tend to develop operating procedures
which are unique to their particular workplace, such as, security
and asset protection, the use of specialized equipment, inventory
control, loading dock operations, or workflow operations. Whatever
the specialized process is, it works only as well as the employees
use the system.
Specialized Operations Training (SOT) programs
are designed to provide employees with detailed guidance on work
operations specific to their companies. The customized courses are
carefully integrated systems of written guidelines, audio-visual
presentations, and testing. The entire course is performance-based:
employees are trained using real-work scenarios, and tested under
conditions similar to the actual workplace.
BENEFITS:
- Bottom-line impact when operations costs are related to any
of the following: quality control, speed/efficiency, asset loss,
security violations.
- Powerful protection of your liability from claims of I
didnt get that information and No one told me
.
This is especially critical in handling loss prevention/asset
protection cases, workers compensation claims and safety
violations.
- Testing data from the course for your retention and use.
COLLABORATIVE PROCESSES:
- A thorough analysis of the possible training populations is
conducted to assist in development of the best training tools.
- Consultants will work with the company to develop course content
addressing the policies and procedures for the training. The course
will utilize realistic scenarios and graphics from the workplace.
- A set of test questions with mutually acceptable performance
standards is developed. A test is devised to evaluate mastery
of the materials.
- A customized SOT course, which reflects company policies, best
practices, and performance-based (measureable) objectives, is
developed.
- Company trainers are trained to utilize the course effectively.
WHAT THE COMPANY RECEIVES:
- Five participant copies of their customized program, containing
descriptive content, exercises, and testing criteria.
- An audio-visual presentation presenting content on the key concepts
identified by the company for testing. This presentation will
utilize the technology the company has in hand, or plans to purchase.

ISO 9000:2000
ISO 9000
ISO 9000 is an international standard that describes a basic quality
management system. Registration to ISO 9000 proves the company has
an effective quality management system, verified by an external
and independent expert. ISO 9000 was first released in 1987, revised
once in 1994, then revised again in 2000. Companies presently under
ISO 9000:1994 must be compliant to ISO 9001:2000 by December 15,
2003 or they will loose their accreditation.
DOCUMENTATION FOR ISO 9000:2000
The types of documents needed for compliance are;
- Quality Manual describing the Quality Management System
- Quality Plans and Goals related to specific products and projects
- Specifications for the product or service provided
- Procedures, Work Instructions and Drawings
- Records of compliance
WHY SHOULD I USE BQE/BLACKFOX?
Our team has extensive practical experience as managers and consultants
in ISO 9000 processes. We have helped a number of clients achieve
ISO 9000. Our training tools and approaches are tailored on specific
customer needs. In addition to providing classroom learning we mentor
and assist our customers with practical application.
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
We suggest you develop internal experts through the use of our training
programs. You will require people skilled in auditing to the ISO
9000 Standard, as well as people who are specialized in documentation
and records controls.
Once your people are trained, they can perform a Gap Assessment
(this is often contracted to external personnel but will not be
required if your own people can do it themselves). The result of
the Gap Assessment is an action item list detailing the systems
and documents that require changes to be in compliant with the ISO
Standard.
When the Action Items have been resolved and the systems
are running, internal on-going audits will maintain the effectiveness
of the systems. At this point, an external 3rd party auditor can
be scheduled to come in and audit for compliance.
Should you need an occasional boost, Blackfox can
schedule periodic reviews with your company to make sure things
are on track. Ultimately, you control the process and you own the
resources.
Call Blackfox and schedule
a meeting to discuss your requirements.
