Rework, modification and repair of electronic assemblies. IPC 7711/7721 is the industry standard for removing and replacing components and repairing circuitry with minimum impact on quality. The class is roughly 85% hands on work, graded as you go.

Mandatory for CIS.
Modules 2 to 10 are optional for CIS. CIT and CSE attend all of them.
CIS
An IPC issued Certified IPC Specialist credential, with a traceable certificate number recorded against your name and company.
Certification valid two years from the exam date. Renewal is a shorter course covering revision changes. We send a reminder before the credential expires.
CIT
An IPC issued Certified IPC Trainer credential, which allows you to teach the standard and certify specialists inside your own company.
Certification valid two years from the exam date. Renewal is a shorter course and also requires evidence that you have taught. Let the credential lapse and your company loses the ability to certify its own specialists until it is renewed.
CSE
An IPC issued Certified Standards Expert credential for detailed knowledge of the standard itself, aimed at engineers and quality staff rather than line operators.
Certification valid two years from the exam date, renewed through a shorter revision course. Teaching and certifying others requires the Certified IPC Trainer credential instead.

Bench access, workmanship samples and magnification provided. Best fit for one to four people.

The IPC 7711/7721, Rework and Repair of Electronic Assemblies, is the Electronic Industry’s standard for the guidelines on removing and replacing electronic components and repairing circuitry with minimum impact on quality and reliability. This course teaches the IPC recommended techniques, tools, equipment and materials required to perform removal, replacement, and repair operations on Plated Through Hole and Surface Mount Assemblies.
This course requires that attendees are proficient in circuit board soldering activities prior to registration. The IPC 7711/7721 class is about 85% advanced technical hands-on techniques performed and graded in-class. If students have not previously performed soldering activities, additional training will be necessary prior to attending this course. Blackfox recommends our applicable soldering series modules for remedial study.
Participants must be able to read and proficiently interpret the language the class and exams are presented in. Exams are available in limited additional languages upon request. Successful passing of written and practical exams is required to attain certification. Two attempts at any exam are included in tuition paid. Additional charges will apply for more than two exam attempts.
Upon Successful completion of this course, CIS and CIT students will be certified to perform Rework and Repair activities based on the IPC 7711/7721 Procedures; CSE students will be knowledgeable in the tools and methods involved in rework and repair.
