Wire Preparation & Crimping

The purpose of this course is to promote the best crimping practices and enhance the operator’s fine-motor skills essential for acceptable wire preparation and crimping techniques.

 

This course is widely recognized in the industry and will benefit learners with little or no knowledge in crimping, or learners who are seeking skill enhancements.

 

OBJECTIVES:

Upon successfully completing this learning activity, learners will obtain and demonstrate the ability to:

  • Wire Preparation
  • Identify wire insulation and gauges
  • Correctly use hand tools
  • Correctly identify wire stripping tools, hand and machine
  • Inspect work for conformance to the standards
  • Apply inspection techniques for wire stripping for damage
  • Apply proper tinning techniques
  • Crimping
  • Identify various types of terminals
  • Correctly use hand crimp tools
  • State the theory of machine crimping
  • Identify acceptable crimps
