COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is for students who are currently certified in the IPC 7711/7721 but need to renew within 6 months before expiration to keep current in the program without interruption. This course provides a thorough review of procedures and updated information on policies and program requirements, as well as the opportunity to demonstrate hands-on skill proficiency.

Participants must be able to read and proficiently interpret the language the class and exams are presented in. Exams are available in limited additional languages upon request. Successful passing of written and practical exams is required to attain certification. Two attempts at any exam are included in tuition paid. Additional charges will apply for more than two exam attempts.

 

OBJECTIVE

Upon Successful completion of this course, CIS and CIT students will be certified to perform Rework and Repairs based on the IPC 7711/7721 Procedures; CSE students will be knowledgeable in the tools and methods involved in rework and repair.

 

COURSE STRUCTURE

CIS students can attend all or some of the following modules, CIT and CSE will attend all:

 

  • Module 1 (Mandatory for CIS) – Policies & Procedures; Intro to 7711/7721
  • Module 2 (Optional for CIS) – Wire Splicing
  • Module 3 (Optional for CIS) – Conformal Coating Removal 
  • Module 4 (Optional for CIS) – Through Hole Rework
  • Module 5 (Optional for CIS) – Surface Mount Chip/Melf Rework
  • Module 6 (Optional for CIS) – Surface Mount Gull Wing Rework
  • Module 7 (Optional for CIS) – Surface Mount J-Lead Rework 
  • Module 8 (Optional for CIS) – BGA
  • Module 9 (Optional for CIS) – Laminate Repair
  • Module 10 (Optional for CIS)- Circuit Repair 

CERTIFIED IPC SPECIALIST (CIS) CERTIFICATION DETAILS

  • IPC “Certified IPC Specialist (CIS)” Certificate

 

Certification Requirements: Pass open book written exam at 70% or better, pass hands-on practical exams for each optional module
Prerequisite: Current IPC 7711/7721 certification

Class Length: 1.5 – 2 days depending on skill level
Certification Length: 24 months

CERTIFIED STANDARDS EXPERT (CSE) CERTIFICATION DETAILS

  • Any hands-on activities are optional and not part of certification 
  • IPC “Certified Standards Expert (CSE)” Certificate

 

Certification Requirements: Pass open and closed book timed written exams at 80% or better
Prerequisite: Current IPC 7711/7721 certification

Class Length: 1.5 – 2 days including optional hands-on, 1 day when presented as lecture-only
Certification Length: 24 months

CERTIFIED IPC TRAINER (CIT) CERTIFICATION DETAILS

Note: To be eligible for recertification, the CIT must have certified a minimum of 5 students in at least 1 class per year of certification in any of the programs the CIT is certified in.
